Quality is the dignity of a company. On October 15, “MU Quality Day,” Market Union (Yiwu) Testing Technology Co., Ltd. was officially unveiled and established. Zhu Xun, Director of Investment Promotion Division I of the Yiwu Free Trade Zone Administrative Committee; He Xiaodong, Director of the Futian Market Regulation Office; and Bao Chenxu, Senior Manager of the Softlines Product Line, North China, Bureau Veritas, attended the ceremony. MU Group President Tom Tang, Presidential Assistant Ken Huang, and heads of business divisions and companies based in Yiwu also witnessed the occasion.
In his remarks, Bao Chenxu noted that Bureau Veritas has witnessed MU Group achieve strong growth despite a complex foreign trade environment, while continuously upgrading its markets, product categories, customer structure, and brand. He said the Group’s transformation from scale expansion to high-quality development is rooted in its commitment to product quality. The new laboratory marks an upgrade in MU Group’s quality-management approach, shifting from post-production inspection to preventive quality management and end-to-end control. Going forward, BV will continue to provide in-depth support to MU Group by expanding cooperation in testing, certification, and compliance; supporting laboratory and team capability building; sharing updates on international regulations and risk alerts; and providing independent third-party quality oversight. Through professional expertise and standards, both sides will continue to develop global markets and support the internationalization of Chinese products.
President Tom Tang noted that the day was MU Group’s Quality Day and that the company provided RMB 1,000 in benefits to every colleague as a direct way to reinforce the importance of quality. Fifteen years ago, MU Group had already established laboratories in Ningbo, although the facilities were relatively dispersed. The newly established laboratory in Yiwu is the largest BV-partnered laboratory in the Jinhua and Yiwu area. Why do customers move from initial trust to long-term confidence? For a foreign trade company, quality is our lifeline. End-to-end management across product design, R&D, quality control, and after-sales service is a key capability and an important reason MU Group has been able to continue moving forward.
We want every shipment delivered to customers around the world to be backed by quality assurance, traceability, and after-sales service. Quality is the dignity of MU Group. Why do customers still need a trading company when they can contact factories directly? At times, a factory is like a student, while a trading company acts like a teacher – identifying issues, following up on corrective actions, and working together with the factory to create value for the customer. Yiwu already has many showrooms, and we hope that in the future the city will also see hundreds of laboratories. A newly established laboratory is like a new hospital: equipment must be added according to actual needs, excellent specialists must be recruited, and capabilities must be developed step by step.
The laboratory has established a close strategic partnership with Bureau Veritas, with in-depth collaboration in standards research, joint testing, mutual recognition of test results, certification services, and technical training. This significantly strengthens the international credibility of test results and improves their global acceptance efficiency. Equipped with advanced international testing equipment, the laboratory covers key areas including physical and mechanical performance and flammability testing, and is designed to meet major international standards such as ISO, EN, ASTM, and CPSC/CPSIA, providing global customers with cost-effective certification services and solutions.
