How to Source Products at the Canton Fair
A practical guide to choosing the right phase, evaluating suppliers, comparing samples and planning your next steps after the fair.
What you should know before you attend
1. Choose the Right Phase for Your Products
Phase 1 (15–19 Oct) is industrial and electronics. Phase 2 (23–27 Oct) is where most home, kitchen and gift programme’s sit. Phase 3 (31 Oct–4 Nov) is textiles and leisure. Matching your categories to the right week keeps your visit focused.
If you need kitchenware and bedding, plan two phases or send a partner for one of them. See Plan your visit.
2. Evaluate Suppliers and Their Capabilities
Confirm the supplier’s business type, production capabilities, experience in your market, MOQ and lead times. Keep clear notes so you can compare options and follow up after the fair.
3. Compare Samples Against Your Requirements
Compare samples against your requirements for materials, dimensions, colours, packaging and relevant certifications. Assign a reference number to each sample and record the agreed specifications.
4. Confirm Specifications and Commercial Terms
Discuss indicative prices and MOQ early, then confirm final pricing, specifications, payment terms and delivery schedules after reviewing the samples. For customised products, use showroom meetings or follow-up discussions to work through the details. The Westin Pazhou showroom (8F and 11F) is MU Group’s meeting point for that review.
5. Plan Quality Inspections and Shipping
Agree on inspection criteria and checkpoints before production begins. Confirm who will conduct the inspections and how goods from different suppliers will be consolidated and shipped. Fair services describes how MU Group supports that handoff.
